I smile easily, without any hesitation. I have crinkles on either side of my mouth from forty-six years worth of grinning. I laugh too loud and giggle until tears spill from the corners of my eyes. Some say that smiling is a superpower. Funny though. On a recent trip to London I found myself trying to refrain from smiling as I took my daily run around Hyde Park each morning. In Seattle, runners smile at one another and say, “Hi!” as they pass. Not in London. Runners pass without so much as a nod. It was the first time I ever wondered if my easy smile was a weakness. I’ll never think that again after watching this TED talk. 🙂 My smiles are visual trick-or-treats for myself and others. Two thousand chocolate bars without all the calories to be exact.
